  • Reign Over Me
Not great, not bad. Kinda depressing at times.

  • Ratatouille
Cute cartoon movie about a rat that likes to cook.
  • National Treasure (second one)
Lots of fun and action, in a light hearted way. Certainly not Oscar material, but it was a most enjoyable way to spend a Saturday evening.
  • Sweeny Todd
Very Tim Burton, kinda dark and mysterious. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were excellent. Lots of squirting blood, and a bit gorey.
  • Juno
Totally cute and fun movie. Ellen Page is fantastic, and the supporting cast was exceptional too. Very endearing story.

    Excellent film.
  • We Own the Night
Enjoyable, leaves you on the edge of your seat.

Action packed Bruce Willis film...we loved it.
  • The Last Mimzy
    Not great, not bad.
  • The Nativity Story
    Nice family film.

Done in black and white...very Perry Mason-like feel. Stars George Clooney (looking mighty fine in a uniform). Interesting.
  • Hollywoodland
    Not that great.
  • Running With Scissors
    YUCK. Too many dysfunctional people.
  • Apocalypto
Wasn't sure I was up for this, but it was very well done and even though it was all subtitled, it draws you in right away. Excellent suspense movie!
  • Bourne Ultimatum
If you like the series, this is for you. Lots of action.
  • Factory Girl
So so...Movie about the life of Edie Sedgewick when she hung around Andy Warhol. People with too much money getting into trouble..

  • Perfect Stranger
Stars Bruce Willis and Halle Berry...not bad, unexpected ending.
  • The Ultimate Gift
Loved it...great family movie and great message.
  • Wild Hogs
Cute, but not really my style. Middle-aged men on a motorcycle adventure.
  • The Nanny Diaries
Stars Laura Linney and Scarlet Johansen. Similar to the book, but a bit different. Not bad, but not great.
  • Becoming Jane
Loved it...Stars Anne Hathaway as Jane Austin.
  • Georgia Rule
Not bad, but mature subject matter. Stars Jane Fonda and Linsey Lohan.
  • The Shooter
Wonderful action film starring Mark Wahlberg.
  • Blood Diamond
Excellent, but sometimes hard to watch due to the brutality.
  • Driving Lessons
This movie stars Laura Linney, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasly from Harry Potter), and Julie Walters. The story centers around a young man, Ben, who starts working for an aging actress (Julie Walters). She takes him on an adventure, and his mother (Laura Linney), an evangelical Christian, is not too happy. Slow paced, but interesting. Not for everyone, but if you like British films, you will probably enjoy this one.
  • Radio
Recently rented this because I had not seen it in the theater. Loved the story and the interaction of the people in the story. Really positive and uplifting. If you have not seen it, I would definitely rent it. Great family movie!
  • Infamous
Story about Truman Capote during the time he wrote In Cold Blood. Exceptional acting and interesting watch.
  • Nancy Drew
Blair and I went to see this with one of her friends, and we LOVED it. Cute story, love the outfits, great message about staying true to who you are.
  • Spiderman 3
If you like the Spiderman series, you will most likely enjoy this film. Not much new, but a fun watch.
  • Miss Potter
LOVED IT!!! This was the story of Beatrix Potter and was just the movie for me. Light and beautiful. Wonderful characters, costumes, scenery, and cute animated drawings. Probably not for everyone (I think Blair was bored), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • Keeping Mum
British dark comedy about a housekeeper who comes to live with a vicar and his family. The family is falling apart, but somehow she manages to start pulling them back together and anyone who is causing them problems seems to be missing. If you like British comedy, this is a good watch.
  • The Last King of Scotland
Fictional movie about a Scottish doctor who becomes the personal physician to Ide Amin. The acting was excellent, but the story was quite hard to watch in places. I can appreciate the movie for all of its excellent qualities, but not really my kind of movie.
  • Vera Drake
Movie set in the early 1950's in London about a woman who is a wife, mother, housekeeper, and helps girls who are in an unfortunate situation. Excellent acting, but I wanted more at the end. Subject matter not recommended for younger kids.
  • Breach
Movie about the spy Robert Hanssen. What an intesting film and what a strange man Robert Hanssen was! I really enjoyed it and thought Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillipe were excellent. Recommended.
  • Real Women Have Curves
Cute movie about a young high school graduate who wants to go to college, but her family wants her to work in her sister's dressmaking shop. Recommended.
  • Pan's Labyrinth
WOW! What an interesting movie. A bit gory and cruel in parts, but certainly worth seeing. The movie is in Spanish with subtitles, but it draws you in so fast that you don't even realize it til the movie is over. It kind of reminds me of a Harry Potter for adults with fantasy characters and a young girl who has to be brave and perform some tasks that none of us would ever thing of doing (like going in the muck and bugs to find a mega huge toad in the middle of a large oak tree, ewww). Mark loved this movie too. It definitely deserves to recieve some awards!!! Hope you find some time to check it out!!!
  • Dreamgirls
PHENOMENAL!!! We LOVED this movie, and Jennifer Hudson is AMAZING!!!
  • The Pursuit of Happyness
Yet another excellent film. Super story and I love the perserverance and attitude of the Dad (Will Smith). Great lessons and love the ending. We all walked out of the theater with a smile, I like that.
  • Night at the Museum
Excellent movie, lots of fun!! We saw it at the IMAX for extra impact and had a great time! Lots of recognizable faces in this movie too!!
  • Casino Royale
A new James Bond and a new feel to the movie. Seemed a bit less flashy than the past Bond movies. Still a good action flick and we all enjoyed it.
  • Happy Feet
Great movie. Lots of fun and excellent message. Good for adults and the kiddos.
  • The Holiday
Excellent girlie film. Blair and I loved it.
  • You, Me, and Dupree
A cute film when you want something that is light and funny.
  • Joyeux Noel
This movie is a foreign film which takes place during WWI on the frontlines with soldiers from Scotland, France, and Germany. They decide to call a truce for Christmas Eve. It is probably not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.
  • The Departed
Hmmm. Well Mark REALLY wanted to see this and he is a big Jack Nicholson fan, so he loved it. I, on the otherhand really did not care if I saw it or not. I don't particulary care for ganster type movies. The acting was good and the story ok, but lots of bloody gore. Not really my type of movie.
  • Monster House
This animated feature had some pretty funny clips, so we decided to rent it. Cute, but I would not recommend it for really young kids beause it might be a tad scary. Interesting idea, but I would not rush out to see it.
  • Hoot
Blair and I really enjoyed this movie about some kids to want to stop a pancake house from being built on some land where owls live. Great story!!!
  • The Sentinel
Decent suspense movie, but not great.
  • The Insider
This is an excellent drama about the 60 minutes expose on the tobacco industry. Excellent acting and really interesting, yet scary story. Mark was mezmerized and gave it a 2 thumbs up.
  • Vanity Fair
Rented this one from Blockbuster recently and it was enjoyable. This is a period piece about a girl who tries to better her life through the people she meets and enchants. It was enjoyable, but Blair did not care for it. She had a hard time keeping up with the plot (but she was on the computer at the same time, so not really paying attention closely).
  • RV
I love almost anything that Robin Williams does, so this was a must see for me. Blair and I laughed A LOT and were sometimes grossed out too (when he had to dump the waste from the RV). I liked that it had a nice ending too.
  • Good Night and Good Luck
Set in the McCarthy era it is an interesting look at what those times must have been like. The black and white film really adds to the feel of the era for this film.
  • John Tucker Must Die
Mark and I went with Blair and her friend (who had already seen it). We laughed and thought it was quite fun. The girls and I thought it kinda reminded us of Mean Girls. Not Oscar material, but an enjoyable, fun movie!
  • Matchpoint
Not your typical Woody Allen movie. Interesting ending, but some parts seemed a bit slow.
  • Shopgirl
Interesting story. Not one of my favorites, but it was worth watching.
  • Save The Last Dance
    Enjoyable and loved the dancing.
  • Little Man
Went to see this with Blair and her friend. We all liked it and laughed quite a bit. Just to see the little guy in his onsie with the bunny ears is enough to make me laugh. Obviously not oscar material, but if you are looking for light comedy, this is a good one.
  • Rumor Has It
Rented this one and finally got to see it on Friday night since Mark worked later than we hoped. Glad I didn't pay big money to see it at the movies. I actually ended up falling asleep, but Blair told me the ending. Not one I'd highly recommend.
  • The White Countess
The last collaboration between Ismail Merchant and James Ivory. A lovely film set in Shanghi prior to the Japanese invasion of the late 1930's. The main characters are a blind American diplomat and a Russian Aristocrat who is working as a dance hall girl to earn a living. Great characters and story.
  • A History of Violence
Rented this the other night and although it was well acted, I just didn't like it. It had several scenes which were QUITE steamy and so not appropriate for teens (it is rated R for good reason). It also had some violence (like you didn't know that) which as not pretty. I guess the ending was just not what I was hoping for or expecting.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
Yeah!! Finally got a chance to see this tonight and WE LOVED IT!!! Great effects and lots of fun. I would not take small children, because some parts could be scary for them. If you liked the first movie, you will like this too!
  • Best in Show
This is one of those ensemble movies about several sets of people who own pets and like to go to dog shows to compete. I had been wanting to see this for ages. It was such a hoot and so much fun to watch. Probably not for everyone, but Blair and I found it most enjoyable.
  • The Greatest Game Ever Played
This movie is about a young man who dreams of being a great golfer and is very talented, but gets discouraged by his father and the snooty rich golfers of the day. I had planned to see it in the theater, but missed out, so we rented from Blockbuster. I really loved the story, and it was good for all ages. I especially loved the relationship between the golfer and his caddy (a 10 year old boy). I highly recommend this as a great family film!
  • The Lake House
Blair and I saw this and really enjoyed it. The concept is a little tough (for me anyway), trying to figure out who is ahead in time and who is behind. I really liked the characters and I'm glad we got a chance to see this!
  • Garden State
Just caught this last night on HBO. Had been wanting to see it, but never got around to renting it. It was a bit strange at first, trying to figure out what was going on, but the more I watched, the better I liked it. Blair liked it too, althought she came in after it had be on for a while, and there was one part where she had to cover her eyes and ears (thus the R rating). The gist of the story is that a man living in LA, (trying to make it as an actor, but works in a restaurant) that has to come home to New Jersey for his mother's funeral. He has a bunch of quirky friends that he has not seen since he was about 16 and a bad relationship with his father. Then he meets this girl in a doctor's office. He and this girl and his friends hang out and have a little adventure, while he starts to find out what he wants in life. Overall, I thought it was worth watching.
  • The Devil Wears Prada
LOVED IT, in fact all 3 of us loved it! Great story and the characters were fun to watch. I am a big fan of Anne Hathaway (from the Princess Diaries), so I new it would be something I'd like to see. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were terrific as well!!!
  • The Breakup
Blair and I saw this and it was good, but not the ending I expected. Had some funny moments, but I don't think I'd rush out to see it.
  • Poseidon
This was a real nail-bitter. It will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. All three of us saw this and we liked it.
  • The DaVinci Code
Very Good, and suspensful, but make sure you watch and listen closely. I am not sure how much Blair liked this one. Mark had not finished the book yet, but he at least had an idea of what was happening. I think the actors did a great job, and overall I give it a thumbs up, but it is not for everyone.
  • Akeelah and the Bee
FANTASTIC!!! Blair and I loved this movie. It is such a positive movie and really shows how perserverance and postive attitude can make things happen. You will definitely walk out feeling good! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED****
  • Mission Impossible 3
Very suspenseful and good plot. Interesting twists. We all enjoyed it a lot.
  • Stick It
Really good teenage girl movie. Blair loved it, and I enjoyed it as well.
  • Inside Man
Very good, and I highly recommend it. Mark and I both liked it a lot. Interesting story and nice twist.
  • Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
    I enjoyed this!
  • Capote
Interesting and well acted, but not one of my favorites.
  • She's the Man
    Cute teenagey movie.
  • The 40 Year Old Virgin
Actually I did not watch it, but Mark did. He thought it was ok, but nothing great.
  • Crash
Rented it this weekend, and I did not really care for it. In fact, I feel asleep about 45 minutes into it. Mark liked it and thought it was very well done. I think the subject was too disturbing and depressing, and I was just not in the right frame of mind to watch it.
  • Eight Below
*** EXCELLENT!!! All three of us loved this movie!
  • Firewall
LOVED IT!!! On the edge of my seat the whole time. Harrison Ford still rocks!
  • Rent
I actually liked the movie better than the play. It was much easier to tell what was going on, and easier for me to follow. I liked the music more than I remembered. Just kind of sad to see all the problems the people were dealing with.
  • Elizabethtown
It was interesting, but not one of my favorites.
  • The Pink Panther
Blair and I really liked this movie. I was kind of silly and had LOTS of physical comedy, but it made me laugh. A lot. Mark was not so crazy about it.
  • Skeleton Key
Finally got a chance to see this. Blair had seen it at the movies and wanted to watch it again with us. LOTS of suspense, but why does she keep going in scary places?? Interesting ending too. If you like suspense, this one is for you.
  • Junebug
This is kind of an arty character study film. It is about a couple who own an art gallery and go to North Carolina to visit a folk artist that they want to sign with their gallery. He lives in the same town as the husband of the couple, so they stay with his peculiar family. It was OK, but nothing to get excited about. I rented it because one of the actresses was nominated in the best supporting role. Also, I thought it might be OK for Blair to watch. NOPE. It is PG13, but there are a few scenes that are just not appropriate.
  • Tristian and Isolde
**** I took Blair and her friend Gina. We all gave it a THUMBS UP!!! Boy, people were so cruel and vicious in the dark ages! We were so glad the nasty lookin dude Isolde was supposed to marry got killed in a battle. I also say kudos to Lord Marke for some of his decisions.
  • Memoirs of a Geisha
*** As good as I expected. Although it did not get good ratings, Blair and I enjoyed it SO VERY MUCH! I had read the book a while ago, so I was really looking forward to it, and I was not disappointed.
  • Glory Road
**** WONDERFUL!!! What an incredible story and fantastic movie. We all LOVED IT!!!!
  • Last Holiday
I really liked it. Queen Latifa is great and if you like her other movies, you will like this. I took Blair and her friend and they liked it as well.
  • King Kong
*** All three of us saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Great story and lots of suspense. Lots of really nasty creatures too!!!! YUCK. Also, I had a hard time at the end of the movie with the scenes on top of the empire state building. Just thinking about being up that high scares the beejeebers out of me!!!
  • Cheaper by the Dozen 2
Great kids movie! I laughed out loud (which Blair did not like). She enjoyed it too.
  • The Family Stone
I liked it LOTS, but it had an unexpected twist that I was not prepared for. * You may need tissues.
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
** Excellent (as always)! I'll be purchasing this one for sure! If you like the other Harry Potter movies, you will really like this too!
  • Walk the Line
*** Excellent!!! Makes me want to go get a Johnny Cash CD!

Heading West...

Peak9 to Colorado (Breckenridge to be exact)...Woo Hoo!! (Photo is of Peak 9 just a few minutes ago).Tomorrow is the big day when we make the trek, so today is running around doing some last minute stuff and getting packed. It's always a challenge to figure out how much and what to bring. Of course, there are the main things like ski suits and turtlenecks, goggles and mittens, but what else??? It is pretty laid back, so nothing too fancy will be required. Looks like the weather should be quite nice too (no blizzards are predicted at this moment). Unfortunately, the cold I have been trying to fight off since last week finally hit. I have been taking my Airborn quite frequently and now I am on Tylenol Cold. If I don't get any worse, I should be good by Wednesday (our first day on the slopes). I do have a little concern about the flights, making sure my ears are ok, but I will continue with the Tylenol and hope for the best. I really don't look forward to the whole airplane/airport stuff (not that anyone does), but I will be keeping my fingers crossed that we will have less problems than we did going to and from New York back in January. I am not planning to bring the laptop, so unless I get some time on the hotel computer, I will be out of touch until next Sunday.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Since I was a bit under the weather, Miss B did all the cooking and it was SUPERB!! Honey-Baked ham, carrot souffle, green bean casserole (a new recipe using fresh green beans), home made mashed potatoes, and a super yummy flourless torte and carrot shaped sugar cookies (iced with orange and green icing). She finally got a chance to use our new food processor too, which made the souffle easy to whip up. Let me tell ya, that girl can cook!!! She might be cookin more often if dance and homework won't interfere.

Well, gotta get my travel journal in order and figure out what I'm gonna bring. Happy arting and hugs all around. Til the end of the week... (photos from ski trip 2007)

Eggs, Movies, and Sunshine...

100_0688_tweaked WOW, the weekend just literally went by in a flash, and what creative things do I have to show for it??? Zip...Nada. OK, so I have photos, but the eggs I finished last week, sigh...I don't know why, but it seems like I get way more accomplished in a few hours in the evening than I do on a weekend when I have nothing planned. Anyhow, here is the blue egg that I completed. If you look near the top, nestled in the flowers you will see an adorable bird. I almost forgot I had this, but it was just the perfect color (although in the photo you can hardly see it), so I had to include it.

100_0690_tweaked Here is a better view of the top...lots of pretty flowers, and the little bird. It was actually attached to a stem with a few plastic flowers (which I have not used yet), and I can't even remember where I got this piece...but I am certainly glad I found it!

100_0693_tweaked Here you can see a little better view of the back. I found that nesting them in some easter grass and flower rings solved the problem of having them stand on their own.

100_0749_tweaked In addition to the blue egg, I also completed the yellow one....Here you can see the front

100_0752 And here is the back. Some flowers are vintage, other are repro, and one is a fuzzy Prima. As you can see, this one has a little bee on top. He was originally attached to the golden plastic flower, but I was able to detach him and then stick him on top.

100_0754 Sorry...Mr. Bunny would not be happy if he did not get a chance to say 'Hello'.

100_0705 So, what did we end up doing??? We made the trek down to Key Biscayne to attend their art festival. It was a beautiful day and we just wanted to get outside and enjoy the weather. Unfortunately, the drive down was not so pleasant. TONS of traffic and it seemed to take forever to just get on the key. We were worried that the festival would be too packed, but luckily that was not the case. Ithink there were just lots of people going to the beach.

100_0701  We saw some interesting art and jewelry. Most of which were not really my style. I tried to convince Mark that we needed the huge hot pink metal pig (about 6 feet long by 3 feet high) for the backyard, but he was not convinced. Since our backyard faces the front entrance to our development, everyone would see it as they drove in. I can just imagine what the homeowners association would say (he he he)! Hey, I could have asked for the huge bull (now that baby was REALLY large...maybe 6 feet tall!).

We did find one artist that had some truly amazing collage/assemblage pieces. They were all created with vintage oriental pieces and the framing was wonderfully done. I especially loved 2 of her pieces, but alas we chose to hold off on any purchases since we have a vacation coming up.

100_0714_diffuse_glow We took a little rest before heading back, so of course, I pulled out the camera and tormented the family by taking photos. The lighting was pretty good...although I did do a bit of tweaking on these.

100_0733_tweaked_diffuse_glow Mr. Mark has to make sure to stay out of the sun now, since he went to the dermatologist to get checked and they found a cancerous spot which had to be removed. He is being good and taking the doctors advice by wearing a hat and 70spf sun lotion (I didn't realize they had 70 level).

100_0742 Yes, I know...put the camera away...

So, what else...We came home and did a quick change, then off to the movies to see Vantage Point. Interesting movie (I think I say that a lot). I liked how they show a given timeframe from each of the main characters points of view. It was also pretty high energy, and the car chase scene could make you feel like you are on a roller coaster ride! Overall..enjoyable, but not winning any awards. And, since we are on the subject of movies...I also watched Breakfast at Tiffany's (Miss B had never seen it, so we used our freebie older movie coupon from Blockbuster) and Gone Baby Gone. I thought Gone Baby Gone was well done, and had a lot of interesting twists and turns. Too bad it was such a downer in so many ways. I recommend it, but not if you are looking for something light or fun.

Of course, I did many more odds and ends...which basically meant I finished the weekend doing nothing creative. bummer. But not to worry. I am back in the groove and started working on a birthday card for a certain niece who will be 21 very soon, so hopefully this will be a productive week.

So how was your St. Patrick's Day??? Ours was pretty uneventful. Had to take Miss B to the dr to get some meds to knock out that cough she can't seem to shake. Can't be takin a vaca in the snow with a nasty cough.

Well, gotta run..hope all is well with you and hope to catch you later in the week...

A Gift from Across the Pond...

Mas_patisserie_2_2  Just wanted to share the lovely postcard I received from Miss Kristy (AKA Brayergirl). I loved this beauty when I saw it posted on her blog and left her a comment, so I was thrilled when she sent her on over to me. The layers and colors in this piece are so much richer and more beautiful than what you can see in the post, and Kristy truly has a gift when it comes to embossing. There is even a coat of sparkle mod podge on top to give it that extra magical look...it is utterly perfect!!! Thank you Kristy for thinking of me and sending me this precious gift!!

I've been working on a few more decorated eggs this week. I finished a blue one and a yellow one (no time to photograph yet). I also have an aqua and a light green ready for embellishments. Since there are layers of paint and glitter (each needing to dry), they take a bit of time to complete. Of course, that leaves me time to work on some of my other projects (or watch tv).

Miss B has her dance practice this evening, so that means a free weekend! WOO HOO!! Not sure what fun things we will find to do (have seen an art festival and an antique show in the paper), but I am pretty sure it will involve seeing at least 1 movie and some creativity for me (along with laundry).

Hope you have a happy and most delightful weekend!

It's almost Easter...

100_0660_2 Are you ready for Spring yet??? Here in South Florida we experience spring-like weather much sooner than most. In fact, a nice cool breeze is a wonderful change when it is frequently 80 or higher. Of course, the whole Spring feeling brings to mind bunnies, chicks, and pastel colors. I have been feeling so inspired lately looking at all the Springtime bloggity goodness. I was ESPECIALLY inspired by this post by the lovely Andrea over at Velvet Strawberries. Of course I had to give this a try. The big news is that I did it BEFORE Easter. I normally go get all the supplies, then do the creating AFTER said holiday.

100_0669 One of the things I like to do, is figure out how to put my own spin on things. In this case, I had what I thought was the brilliant idea of using crackle paint on the outside. I could just imagine the cute little eggs looking like they were about to burst open. WRONG. I painted crackle on first and it was kinda thin. I painted acrylic over it. The paint flaked off. OK fine. I painted acrylic first, then crackle. The paint flaked off, exposing the white egg underneath. Poop. Well, not to worry. Paint those bad boys one more time with acrylic paint, and after they dried, cover with Martha's glitter glue and top with clear glass glitter. Now yer talkin.

100_0673 It corrected all the paint problems and really softened the color of the paint. I actually thought about using mica flakes, but I would have to search for them in the office (AKA The Black Hole), and being the lazy butt that I am, I went with what was handy. After the glittering was complete, I got to do the fun part...decorating. I did have one other issue to solve though. How best to attach some trim over the lovely glitter. Hmmmm. My first option was the red wonder tape. So far, it seems to be working really well. All the pretties are attached with the ever-awesome E6000 (which I am always using for attaching this and that).

100_0685 So, in case you were wondering...photo 1 is the front of the pink egg, photo 2 is the back of the pink egg, photo 3 is the front of the lilac egg, photo 4 is the top of the lilac egg, and photo 5

100_0676  is the back of the lilac egg. I only made these 2, but I started painting 2 more this morning before I left for work. They will be green and blue. yummy. Of course I am thinking that 4 will not be enough, so I headed lickety-split over to Michael's at lunch to pick up another 4-pack of the Martha eggs. Do I have other stuff I should be working on??? for sure, but I am having way too much fun with these. Oh, and one other tid bit I forgot to mention...the eggs are total round, so they do not stand nicely on their own (hence the cute bunny, chick, and birdie props). Well, I guess you can't have everything. So, that was the weekend craft-a-thon. In addition to making these eggs (I don't want you thinkin that was all I did), we hit the church carnival (the white elephant was not great, but I got a few books and little glass bowls for displaying and keeping the vintage jewels), I watched the movie Michael Clayton (FINALLY), and I cooked some uber-FIERCE strip steaks last evening (he he he...Project Runway speak).

This week Miss B has quarter finals, so she will be hittin the books to keep up that stellar average (right miz B?). Hope to work on a few other artsy projects in the evenings, along with my normal chauffier duties. So sad that I will have to wait months and months for Project Runway to start again...although I am lovin American Idol.

Hope all is well with you...stay safe and hope to catch ya later in the week.

Happy Tuesday to you...

100_0616 Well, the weekend came and went, and I don't really have a whole lot of new and exciting things to show. However, I did finally do something that I have been putting off...writing up the info required for submissions. After working on the pc all day during the week, the last thing I want to do is come home and write up instructions and supply lists, so this had to be a weekend task. It took quite a bit of time, but I am happy to have it complete! I even attached a photo of the piece on each list. Hopefully this will help in the proper credit and return of my submissions. It feels good to get the box off to CA and clear a bit of space in the office (ok, so it barely made a dent, but we won't discuss that). I did manage to finish this tag last week. I just decided to use up some bits and pieces I still had on the desk. I figured it was better to just create something with them rather than toss them back in the box to be forgotten. Sometimes I find that fun to just use what is on the desk and see what I can come up with. How about you?

Of course not only do I still have holiday stuff hanging around, but now I also have Valentine stuff too. I really need to put it away, but I noticed that they already have calls posted for holiday items in the back of Stampers' Sampler! If I was a really smart girl, I would start making some Christmas cards now (but we all know that is not likely to happen).100_0620

Anyhoo...I finished up a swap item (I think) and must get it photographed and sent on its merry way this week. I also started working on a little mini theater. Of course, that really means that I have gotten as far as applying some gesso to the box I am using for the base. This project has put me way out of my comfort zone, but I am pondering lots of ideas and trying to resolve a few open issues I have with how to make things work. In addition to this, I was asked to create a few cards for publication, but they need to be easy cards. Since I tend to tweak the heck out of my cards, this is a bit out of my comfort zone. BUT, I think this is a great challenge for me, and I am ready to give it a try. I should be able to do this...right..??? (she says nervously)

Now, I did not spend the whole weekend working on my write-ups. I managed to see 4 (FOUR...can you believe it??) movies...all the ones I mentioned in the previous post. A Love Song for Bobby Long was and interesting character study and was good, but not great. A very different role for John Travolta. Next up was There Will Be Blood. Interesting movie...very gritty and Daniel Day Lewis was excellent. I liked the contrast (and similarities) between the main characters. I liked the movie, but since I tend to prefer fluff with happy endings, it was not a favorite. 100_0621 On Saturday evening, we took Miss B and a friend to see Charlie Bartlett. I was a little worried about the R rating, but the girls are pretty mature, and the rating was more due to subject matter than other stuff I would rather they not see. We all enjoyed this quite a bit. The writing and characters were excellent. Kinda like a modern and more witty Ferris Bueller. I had not heard of it or remembered seeing the previews, but the trailer really pulled me in. Oh, and Robert Downey Jr. plays the principal who likes to drink more than he should. I recommend this if you are looking for a comedy. On Sunday, I watched Eagle vs Shark. Cute foreign film from Australia or New Zealand (not sure which). Quirky love story of two kinda nerdy people. I thought Miss B would like it, but she thought it the characters were too strange.

Last, but not least, Miss B had her second dance competition. The team scored gold on all three dances, which was good, but not as good as a diamond gold (love the names they give the awards). This weekend we get a break from practicing...YEAH! But, it is carnival weekend at the church, so we will probably go several times to wander around, eat (although I don't really like fair food), and I will visit the white elephant booth sleuthing for treasures. Mark and I will also be volunteering at the ticket booth on Saturday evening. Gotta do our part.

Hope all is well in your part of the world....catch ya soon.
