Lots of rain and wind gusts, but we managed to keep power (except for a few brief surges). We decided to close the shutters in case of flying coconuts (from the neighbors yard). This was our first time using them and it was great to know we could button up in less than an hour. Quite a difference from putting up the panels we used to have. Stayed inside all day Sunday and most of Saturday, so I got lots of crafty things completed. Finished the back of 12 book covers, made 2 cards and 7 postcards!
Hope you had a nice weekend.
Saturday was a gorgeous day to be outside, so we decided to brave the crowds and attend Art in the Park. Although the art was a lot of the same stuff you see over and over again, so we found nothing interesting to purchase, we enjoyed seeing dancing exibitions and local bands. It also gave me the opportunity to play with the Hipstamatic app in my iphone. I did have a problem with it freezing, but I turned my phone off/on and the issue was resolved. YAY! Oh, and just so you know I was really there, those are my jeans and sneaks in the second to last photo.
Friday evening I attended the Parisian Tent Sale that was going on close to home. It was small, but found one vendor who had the most lovely things for sale...necklaces, bracelets, old buttons, and vintage lace. I did not walk away empty handed from this booth! Thanks Cassandra, it was so nice to meet you!!
Sunday was catch up day...laundry, grocery shopping, loading photos from my phone and camera, and watched the final episodes of The Tudors. I really enjoyed this series and am sad to have it completed.
Hope you had a great weekend!
I finally got a chance to take all the photos off the camera and do some post processing, so thought I'd share a few that were taken over Memorial Day weekend. On the first two, I added some texture to give a vintage feel. The third is a sunrise shot. The tricky part of taking this shot is that the moment I stepped outside of the nice cool room, my camera would start to fog up on the inside, so I had to quick take a photo, or else wait a while for the fog to go away. The last 3 shots are just to show what beautiful weather we had.
Since I last blogged, Miss B finished school and we attended her dance recital. She is enjoying the more relaxed pace of summer, and not having to worry about homework and projects. She is now officially a senior in high school, so this coming year will bring all the challenges of applying to college and waiting for acceptance letters. It also means she will get to paint her parking space at school.
I've been working on father's day cards and a few other artsy things. While I was doing that, this card came together from odds and ends I had on my desk.
Got a chance to see the film Shutter Island this week. It was sort of interesting and a little creepy, but overall not really something I enjoyed.
Mr. Mark was THRILLED that his LA Lakers won the NBA Championship. I am thrilled that I don't have to listen to him yelling at them when they make mistakes and aren't doing well. And just think, there is only about a month to go before football season starts! Oh joy...
We'll be heading out early tomorrow on our first little excursion of the summer. Miss B is attending a journalism camp at the University of Florida in Gainesville. While she is there, Mr. Mark and I will head up to Savannah for a few days. I am planning to check out this place, this place, this place, and this place. Once Miss B is finished at UF, we'll pick her up and head down to Orlando and spend a few days at Disneyworld. Looking forward to a fun time and taking a lot of cool photos! I made a quick little journal last evening to jot down all our activities.
Hope you are having a great summer...catch ya soon!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be sunny and not too windy. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that I might get to see this little (or not so little anymore) guy that I fell in love with last year...
Above all, we are looking forward to relaxing, reading and doing as little as possible. Hope you have a lovely weekend and I'll catch ya on the flip side...
I decorated inside for Easter...
Took the furry B to get her annual shots. I asked the vet about her obsessive licking when we are preparing food or eating. Turns out the smells get her stomach acid going that it causes her to almost feel nauseous. He suggested giving her either Pepsid or plain rice cakes, so she is now feasting daily on rice cakes during our dinnertime...and she is most happy about that. It actually seems to be helping too! Oh, and Dr. B was very pleased with her weight and her health (even when she tried to nip him after he gave her the shots).
We also headed down to Key Biscayne to attend the annual art festival...
Italian ices were enjoyed and we could not have asked for better weather. The art at this show was a really nice mix, and we saw a few things that we liked, but in the end, we didn't purchase anything. We even met a couple with a baby bulldog who was just as cute as can be.
On our way out, we decided to stop at The Rusty Pelican for dinner. We had a lovely view of Biscayne Bay, the Miami skyline, cruise ships leaving, and a wedding. After dinner, Miss B and I ventured out on the patio to take some photos of the gorgeous sunset...
After dinner, we headed home, but made a little stop to purchase some luggage for our upcoming vacation. We topped off the evening by watching the film Precious. The performances were powerful and amazing. The story was at times hard to watch, but I love that at the end of the film you see the strength of the characters and know there is hope for a better life.
In addition to this, we also watched This Is It(the Michael Jackson film). It was interesting to see what goes in to making a concert, to see the rehearsals and hard work required, and to remember what an amazing performer Michael Jackson was.
Hope you had a lovely weekend, and your week is starting off well. I'm finally back in my office working on cards for a special birthday coming up, as well as for Easter. Hope to have some new work to share soon...Happy Tuesday!
