Got a chance to play the week before last and finally was able to create this little wall hanging I had been planning in my head for a while. Turns out, this is going to be my next class, and I'll be focusing on creating backgrounds. We'll be using patterned paper, gesso, watercolor crayons, and inks. Oh, and lots of Tim Holtz products.
And, since I was having so much fun, I made a second one.
This one features a faux cabinet card. I plan to share how I did that too, although we will not be making one in class.
We had another whirlwind weekend. Saturday am Miss B took the SAT test while I went to the salon, and Mr. Mark did some odds and ends around the house. Around noon time, we put the top down on the Miata and took advantage of the gorgeous weather by attending an outdoor art festival. After that, we took about a hour to and headed to the mall to look for luggage. You may remember after our last trip and the whole luggage issues, I told Mr. Mark that we definitely need some luggage before our next journey. Anyhow, after we scoped out the luggage choices (not actually purchasing any yet, but feel pretty good about what we want), we headed to the movies (Miss B met us there) to see Alice In Wonderland (the non-3D version). We all enjoyed it quite a bit! After the movie, we grabbed a quick bite, then headed home to adjust our clocks and go to bed.
Sunday we went to our normal 7:30am mass, grabbed some breakfast, then Miss B headed off to her hospital volunteer job. I headed home to check out the Target website since the new Liberty of London line came out and I was on a mission. Ever since I saw the beautiful bicycle online, I was determined to get one. Based on what I could see, it appeared that I might have to order it and have it delivered (even though there are numerous Target stores in our area). Low and behold, it turns out that one Target in our area showed they had the bike. So, I hopped in Mr. Mark's car lickety-split and headed over to see if I would be lucky enough to snag one. Once in the store, I made a bee-line to the bike section and was disappointed that my precious was not waiting for me. So I asked a sales associate about the bikes. The sales associate then had to call another sales associate who called a person on the walkie-talkie, and was informed that they had no bikes and weren't going to. I explained that this made no sense since it showed online that they had bikes. So...I headed up to the service desk and got side-tracked as I saw some of the bags, scarves, umbrellas, and wallets being put out. I told my tale of woe to a very nice sales associate who called someone in the stock area to check again about the bike, since her computer showed they had 2 bikes (hmmmm things might be looking up). Dude in the back tells her he does not see the bike, but...as I'm talking to them, my hero, Mr. Store Manager, comes up and tells me there is more than one place to look in the back and he will personally go check for me since they received a shipment the evening before. I waited with baited breath...and he called with the magic stock numbers. He found The Precious! He even wheeled it up to the front on a cart for me to verify that it was just what I wanted. Then after making my purchase, he took all the info and promised to give me a priority so that my bike could be put together by their expert bike builder who was coming in later in the day!! He even took my phone numbers so they could contact me to let me know when I could pick it up. YAY!
So, I headed home and collected Mr. Mark, and then we headed down to Miami (with the top down) and went to the Doral golf tournament. I'd have shared some photos, but they took my camera and phones when we arrived!!! I was not a happy camper. However, the weather was beautiful and it was fun to watch a few of the top golfers (although His Tigerness was not there). We saw Els and Schwartzel tee off. Also saw Singh play thru. We ended up only staying a few hours, then we headed home, dropped off the Miata, picked up Mr. Mark's car, and headed to my MIL's to help her with a few things. After that, we were off and running back to Target to pick up The Precious (bike). Since it was now about 8:00pm, we decided to grab a bite to eat (rather than me going home and cooking), so Miss B met us at a local BBQ place. After dinner, we all headed home and called it a weekend.
Nothing like cramming all you can into your time off!!! Guess you can see that I didn't find time to do any creating, but there's always next weekend...
Oh, and I took my first spin on The Precious this evening and it was fun!!!
