  • Reign Over Me
Not great, not bad. Kinda depressing at times.

  • Ratatouille
Cute cartoon movie about a rat that likes to cook.
  • National Treasure (second one)
Lots of fun and action, in a light hearted way. Certainly not Oscar material, but it was a most enjoyable way to spend a Saturday evening.
  • Sweeny Todd
Very Tim Burton, kinda dark and mysterious. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were excellent. Lots of squirting blood, and a bit gorey.
  • Juno
Totally cute and fun movie. Ellen Page is fantastic, and the supporting cast was exceptional too. Very endearing story.

    Excellent film.
  • We Own the Night
Enjoyable, leaves you on the edge of your seat.
  • Dan in Real Life
I really loved this movie, and I am not a Steve Carell fan. Great story and I love the story line of big families getting together. Great house too!

    Enjoyable, but lots of violence.

Action packed Bruce Willis film...we loved it.
  • The Last Mimzy
    Not great, not bad.
  • The Nativity Story
    Nice family film.

Done in black and white...very Perry Mason-like feel. Stars George Clooney (looking mighty fine in a uniform). Interesting.
  • Hollywoodland
    Not that great.
  • Running With Scissors
    YUCK. Too many dysfunctional people.
  • Apocalypto
Wasn't sure I was up for this, but it was very well done and even though it was all subtitled, it draws you in right away. Excellent suspense movie!
  • Bourne Ultimatum
If you like the series, this is for you. Lots of action.
  • Factory Girl
So so...Movie about the life of Edie Sedgewick when she hung around Andy Warhol. People with too much money getting into trouble..

Wonderful....Stars Anthony Hopkins as an older gentleman who wants to break the worlds land speed record.

  • Perfect Stranger
Stars Bruce Willis and Halle Berry...not bad, unexpected ending.
  • The Ultimate Gift
Loved it...great family movie and great message.
  • Wild Hogs
Cute, but not really my style. Middle-aged men on a motorcycle adventure.
  • The Nanny Diaries
Stars Laura Linney and Scarlet Johansen. Similar to the book, but a bit different. Not bad, but not great.
  • Becoming Jane
Loved it...Stars Anne Hathaway as Jane Austin.
  • Georgia Rule
Not bad, but mature subject matter. Stars Jane Fonda and Linsey Lohan.
  • The Shooter
Wonderful action film starring Mark Wahlberg.
  • Blood Diamond
Excellent, but sometimes hard to watch due to the brutality.
  • Driving Lessons
This movie stars Laura Linney, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasly from Harry Potter), and Julie Walters. The story centers around a young man, Ben, who starts working for an aging actress (Julie Walters). She takes him on an adventure, and his mother (Laura Linney), an evangelical Christian, is not too happy. Slow paced, but interesting. Not for everyone, but if you like British films, you will probably enjoy this one.
  • Radio
Recently rented this because I had not seen it in the theater. Loved the story and the interaction of the people in the story. Really positive and uplifting. If you have not seen it, I would definitely rent it. Great family movie!
  • Infamous
Story about Truman Capote during the time he wrote In Cold Blood. Exceptional acting and interesting watch.
  • Nancy Drew
Blair and I went to see this with one of her friends, and we LOVED it. Cute story, love the outfits, great message about staying true to who you are.
  • Spiderman 3
If you like the Spiderman series, you will most likely enjoy this film. Not much new, but a fun watch.
  • Miss Potter
LOVED IT!!! This was the story of Beatrix Potter and was just the movie for me. Light and beautiful. Wonderful characters, costumes, scenery, and cute animated drawings. Probably not for everyone (I think Blair was bored), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • Keeping Mum
British dark comedy about a housekeeper who comes to live with a vicar and his family. The family is falling apart, but somehow she manages to start pulling them back together and anyone who is causing them problems seems to be missing. If you like British comedy, this is a good watch.
  • The Last King of Scotland
Fictional movie about a Scottish doctor who becomes the personal physician to Ide Amin. The acting was excellent, but the story was quite hard to watch in places. I can appreciate the movie for all of its excellent qualities, but not really my kind of movie.
  • Vera Drake
Movie set in the early 1950's in London about a woman who is a wife, mother, housekeeper, and helps girls who are in an unfortunate situation. Excellent acting, but I wanted more at the end. Subject matter not recommended for younger kids.
  • Breach
Movie about the spy Robert Hanssen. What an intesting film and what a strange man Robert Hanssen was! I really enjoyed it and thought Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillipe were excellent. Recommended.
  • Real Women Have Curves
Cute movie about a young high school graduate who wants to go to college, but her family wants her to work in her sister's dressmaking shop. Recommended.
  • Pan's Labyrinth
WOW! What an interesting movie. A bit gory and cruel in parts, but certainly worth seeing. The movie is in Spanish with subtitles, but it draws you in so fast that you don't even realize it til the movie is over. It kind of reminds me of a Harry Potter for adults with fantasy characters and a young girl who has to be brave and perform some tasks that none of us would ever thing of doing (like going in the muck and bugs to find a mega huge toad in the middle of a large oak tree, ewww). Mark loved this movie too. It definitely deserves to recieve some awards!!! Hope you find some time to check it out!!!
  • Dreamgirls
PHENOMENAL!!! We LOVED this movie, and Jennifer Hudson is AMAZING!!!
  • The Pursuit of Happyness
Yet another excellent film. Super story and I love the perserverance and attitude of the Dad (Will Smith). Great lessons and love the ending. We all walked out of the theater with a smile, I like that.
  • Night at the Museum
Excellent movie, lots of fun!! We saw it at the IMAX for extra impact and had a great time! Lots of recognizable faces in this movie too!!
  • Casino Royale
A new James Bond and a new feel to the movie. Seemed a bit less flashy than the past Bond movies. Still a good action flick and we all enjoyed it.
  • Happy Feet
Great movie. Lots of fun and excellent message. Good for adults and the kiddos.
  • The Holiday
Excellent girlie film. Blair and I loved it.
  • You, Me, and Dupree
A cute film when you want something that is light and funny.
  • Joyeux Noel
This movie is a foreign film which takes place during WWI on the frontlines with soldiers from Scotland, France, and Germany. They decide to call a truce for Christmas Eve. It is probably not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.
  • The Departed
Hmmm. Well Mark REALLY wanted to see this and he is a big Jack Nicholson fan, so he loved it. I, on the otherhand really did not care if I saw it or not. I don't particulary care for ganster type movies. The acting was good and the story ok, but lots of bloody gore. Not really my type of movie.
  • Monster House
This animated feature had some pretty funny clips, so we decided to rent it. Cute, but I would not recommend it for really young kids beause it might be a tad scary. Interesting idea, but I would not rush out to see it.
  • Hoot
Blair and I really enjoyed this movie about some kids to want to stop a pancake house from being built on some land where owls live. Great story!!!
  • The Sentinel
Decent suspense movie, but not great.
  • The Insider
This is an excellent drama about the 60 minutes expose on the tobacco industry. Excellent acting and really interesting, yet scary story. Mark was mezmerized and gave it a 2 thumbs up.
  • Vanity Fair
Rented this one from Blockbuster recently and it was enjoyable. This is a period piece about a girl who tries to better her life through the people she meets and enchants. It was enjoyable, but Blair did not care for it. She had a hard time keeping up with the plot (but she was on the computer at the same time, so not really paying attention closely).
  • RV
I love almost anything that Robin Williams does, so this was a must see for me. Blair and I laughed A LOT and were sometimes grossed out too (when he had to dump the waste from the RV). I liked that it had a nice ending too.
  • Good Night and Good Luck
Set in the McCarthy era it is an interesting look at what those times must have been like. The black and white film really adds to the feel of the era for this film.
  • John Tucker Must Die
Mark and I went with Blair and her friend (who had already seen it). We laughed and thought it was quite fun. The girls and I thought it kinda reminded us of Mean Girls. Not Oscar material, but an enjoyable, fun movie!
  • Matchpoint
Not your typical Woody Allen movie. Interesting ending, but some parts seemed a bit slow.
  • Shopgirl
Interesting story. Not one of my favorites, but it was worth watching.
  • Save The Last Dance
    Enjoyable and loved the dancing.
  • Little Man
Went to see this with Blair and her friend. We all liked it and laughed quite a bit. Just to see the little guy in his onsie with the bunny ears is enough to make me laugh. Obviously not oscar material, but if you are looking for light comedy, this is a good one.
  • Rumor Has It
Rented this one and finally got to see it on Friday night since Mark worked later than we hoped. Glad I didn't pay big money to see it at the movies. I actually ended up falling asleep, but Blair told me the ending. Not one I'd highly recommend.
  • The White Countess
The last collaboration between Ismail Merchant and James Ivory. A lovely film set in Shanghi prior to the Japanese invasion of the late 1930's. The main characters are a blind American diplomat and a Russian Aristocrat who is working as a dance hall girl to earn a living. Great characters and story.
  • A History of Violence
Rented this the other night and although it was well acted, I just didn't like it. It had several scenes which were QUITE steamy and so not appropriate for teens (it is rated R for good reason). It also had some violence (like you didn't know that) which as not pretty. I guess the ending was just not what I was hoping for or expecting.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
Yeah!! Finally got a chance to see this tonight and WE LOVED IT!!! Great effects and lots of fun. I would not take small children, because some parts could be scary for them. If you liked the first movie, you will like this too!
  • Best in Show
This is one of those ensemble movies about several sets of people who own pets and like to go to dog shows to compete. I had been wanting to see this for ages. It was such a hoot and so much fun to watch. Probably not for everyone, but Blair and I found it most enjoyable.
  • The Greatest Game Ever Played
This movie is about a young man who dreams of being a great golfer and is very talented, but gets discouraged by his father and the snooty rich golfers of the day. I had planned to see it in the theater, but missed out, so we rented from Blockbuster. I really loved the story, and it was good for all ages. I especially loved the relationship between the golfer and his caddy (a 10 year old boy). I highly recommend this as a great family film!
  • The Lake House
Blair and I saw this and really enjoyed it. The concept is a little tough (for me anyway), trying to figure out who is ahead in time and who is behind. I really liked the characters and I'm glad we got a chance to see this!
  • Garden State
Just caught this last night on HBO. Had been wanting to see it, but never got around to renting it. It was a bit strange at first, trying to figure out what was going on, but the more I watched, the better I liked it. Blair liked it too, althought she came in after it had be on for a while, and there was one part where she had to cover her eyes and ears (thus the R rating). The gist of the story is that a man living in LA, (trying to make it as an actor, but works in a restaurant) that has to come home to New Jersey for his mother's funeral. He has a bunch of quirky friends that he has not seen since he was about 16 and a bad relationship with his father. Then he meets this girl in a doctor's office. He and this girl and his friends hang out and have a little adventure, while he starts to find out what he wants in life. Overall, I thought it was worth watching.
  • The Devil Wears Prada
LOVED IT, in fact all 3 of us loved it! Great story and the characters were fun to watch. I am a big fan of Anne Hathaway (from the Princess Diaries), so I new it would be something I'd like to see. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were terrific as well!!!
  • The Breakup
Blair and I saw this and it was good, but not the ending I expected. Had some funny moments, but I don't think I'd rush out to see it.
  • Poseidon
This was a real nail-bitter. It will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. All three of us saw this and we liked it.
  • The DaVinci Code
Very Good, and suspensful, but make sure you watch and listen closely. I am not sure how much Blair liked this one. Mark had not finished the book yet, but he at least had an idea of what was happening. I think the actors did a great job, and overall I give it a thumbs up, but it is not for everyone.
  • Akeelah and the Bee
FANTASTIC!!! Blair and I loved this movie. It is such a positive movie and really shows how perserverance and postive attitude can make things happen. You will definitely walk out feeling good! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED****
  • Mission Impossible 3
Very suspenseful and good plot. Interesting twists. We all enjoyed it a lot.
  • Stick It
Really good teenage girl movie. Blair loved it, and I enjoyed it as well.
  • Inside Man
Very good, and I highly recommend it. Mark and I both liked it a lot. Interesting story and nice twist.
  • Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
    I enjoyed this!
  • Capote
Interesting and well acted, but not one of my favorites.
  • She's the Man
    Cute teenagey movie.
  • The 40 Year Old Virgin
Actually I did not watch it, but Mark did. He thought it was ok, but nothing great.
  • Crash
Rented it this weekend, and I did not really care for it. In fact, I feel asleep about 45 minutes into it. Mark liked it and thought it was very well done. I think the subject was too disturbing and depressing, and I was just not in the right frame of mind to watch it.
  • Eight Below
*** EXCELLENT!!! All three of us loved this movie!
  • Firewall
LOVED IT!!! On the edge of my seat the whole time. Harrison Ford still rocks!
  • Rent
I actually liked the movie better than the play. It was much easier to tell what was going on, and easier for me to follow. I liked the music more than I remembered. Just kind of sad to see all the problems the people were dealing with.
  • Elizabethtown
It was interesting, but not one of my favorites.
  • The Pink Panther
Blair and I really liked this movie. I was kind of silly and had LOTS of physical comedy, but it made me laugh. A lot. Mark was not so crazy about it.
  • Skeleton Key
Finally got a chance to see this. Blair had seen it at the movies and wanted to watch it again with us. LOTS of suspense, but why does she keep going in scary places?? Interesting ending too. If you like suspense, this one is for you.
  • Junebug
This is kind of an arty character study film. It is about a couple who own an art gallery and go to North Carolina to visit a folk artist that they want to sign with their gallery. He lives in the same town as the husband of the couple, so they stay with his peculiar family. It was OK, but nothing to get excited about. I rented it because one of the actresses was nominated in the best supporting role. Also, I thought it might be OK for Blair to watch. NOPE. It is PG13, but there are a few scenes that are just not appropriate.
  • Tristian and Isolde
**** I took Blair and her friend Gina. We all gave it a THUMBS UP!!! Boy, people were so cruel and vicious in the dark ages! We were so glad the nasty lookin dude Isolde was supposed to marry got killed in a battle. I also say kudos to Lord Marke for some of his decisions.
  • Memoirs of a Geisha
*** As good as I expected. Although it did not get good ratings, Blair and I enjoyed it SO VERY MUCH! I had read the book a while ago, so I was really looking forward to it, and I was not disappointed.
  • Glory Road
**** WONDERFUL!!! What an incredible story and fantastic movie. We all LOVED IT!!!!
  • Last Holiday
I really liked it. Queen Latifa is great and if you like her other movies, you will like this. I took Blair and her friend and they liked it as well.
  • King Kong
*** All three of us saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Great story and lots of suspense. Lots of really nasty creatures too!!!! YUCK. Also, I had a hard time at the end of the movie with the scenes on top of the empire state building. Just thinking about being up that high scares the beejeebers out of me!!!
  • Cheaper by the Dozen 2
Great kids movie! I laughed out loud (which Blair did not like). She enjoyed it too.
  • The Family Stone
I liked it LOTS, but it had an unexpected twist that I was not prepared for. * You may need tissues.
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
** Excellent (as always)! I'll be purchasing this one for sure! If you like the other Harry Potter movies, you will really like this too!
  • Walk the Line
*** Excellent!!! Makes me want to go get a Johnny Cash CD!

Highlights from Orlando....

100_1752 tweaked again It was a busy weekend in Orlando. Miss B spent much of the time in the hotel with her team either competing, getting ready to compete, and supporting team members. She was in 3 different team dances which were on Friday. The production number (which had all members of the junior and senior teams took first place in the production number category. That meant that they had to compete again on Sunday evening in the Showcase. Well, they were thrilled to also win first place production number in the Showcase too! Now, I don't totally understand why they compete against the same groups they competed against on Friday, but that was the case. Anyhow, Friday snuck away for a few hours to the Florida Mall, since Miss B's dances were not until later in the afternoon. Saw a really cool store with a surfing area right inside (I kid you not).

On Saturday, I decided to head over to Stampfest 2008. 100_1721 I had never been to a rubber stamp convention and was anxious to see what I might find.

100_1718 I found all sorts of pretty things, but my most favorite booth was Stampers Anonymous. They had Mr. Ted Cutts doing some great demos and since I have many of the things already at home, I decided that I really must try some of his great techinques.

100_1698 I also got a demo on the Zutter binding system (which I am sorry to say I have had at home from a long time and never used). I will be pullin this thing out too because it was super easy to use. On Saturday evening, we headed to Downtown Disney for dinner. I was superexcited to see they still had Wolfgang Puck's restaurant and we were early enough to get a table pretty quick. (I loved the one by us, but it left the mall and I was so sad.) We also got inside just in time to avoid a major downpour (which happens almost every afternoon in the summer).

On Sunday, while Miss B was still with the team (and the dancing was not until late), Mark and I headed over to Disney's Animal Kingdom. He went on the new Expedition Everest rollercoaster (while I waited). After he came off, I was SUPER HAPPY I didn't ride it!! We also did the safari (tons of animals were out) and then headed over to Epcot. On our way there we got selected to be an honorary family of Disney, which prettymuch only gave us a certificate, a couple of buttons, and a ride in a golf cart to our car. Mark was hoping for a free meal!

In Epcot, our first stop was for some food. We tried to eat Mexican, but they were full for the day. We decided to get a margarita for the road, and headed on to another restaurant. We got lucky in Italy and had a lovely meal there. After that, we took in a few more rides (The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Mission: Space, and Test Track). We then headed back to the hotel to clean up and watch the Showcase.

100_1751 tweaked

Monday we headed out early and made our first stop back in Epcot.100_1754 We wanted to see a new ride called Soarin, but the line was too long on Sunday, so that was our first stop. The ride gives you the sensation of hang gliding over California.

100_1756 After that, we took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom (Blair's choice). It was much more crowded on Monday, so we were concerned about how much we would be able to do, but we made a plan and got on all but one thing. 100_1763  This was our first stop. Had to see it with Jack Sparrow in different places. Plus there was very little wait.

100_1766  Mark is checkin out our next move...

100_1769  And Mark managed to take a photo that was not blurry!

100_1779 tweaked  It was a fun day and the weather held up in til about 5pm. Once the clouds rolled in, it was time to head out. We even got lucky and rode with the driver in the front of the monorail. Quite a different perspective. Especially with all sorts of lightening on an electrical track!! We arrived home quite late and prettymuch just dropped our bags, picked up the pupper from Mom, got cleaned up (boy was it hot!) and headed off to dreamland.

I have been playing catch-up ever since!!

Miss B and I did manage to catch a movie...The Jane Austen Book Club. LOVED IT!!

Well, gotta get busy makin a card for the almost-birthday-boy. It is a BIG one this year!

Up to my ears in laundry...

100_0854 It was a great trip out west. The weather was just stellar...several days of sun, and no bitter cold. In fact, the first day I skiied with my jacket open. We got snow on Thursday, but even that was not bad to ski in since the temps were tolerable. We were a little worried about our flights, because we took Delta, but they were all on time and worked out quite nicely (except for a few bumpy moments going through the clouds). Of course, we did have the typical altitude adjustments. Coming from below sea level, it really wrecks havoc on the system, but by Friday, I didn't wake up with a headache. Oh, and flying with the cold was kind of a pain, but by our first100_0832 ski day on Wednesday, I was good enough to ski the whole day, and didn't have to take any meds other than something to relieve the headache (which I would have had cold or not). Miss B opted for more snowboard lessons and continues to do well, although she is very cautious and does not go fast or do anything crazy. She is even feeling much more confident about getting on and off the lifts, but we could not convice her to tackle a blue run. She likes her runs not too steep and not too crowded. It turned out to be a good time to go as far as the crowds. Not too long to wait to get on the lifts (except at about 10:15 when all the classes are heading up the mountain).

100_0855 We got back in the wee hours of Sunday, and I am still sorting through laundry and trying to get back in a somewhat normal schedule. Since the public schools in our area are off for Spring Break this week, we get a reprieve from dance classes, so I won't have to do a lot of running around in the evenings. Although, I did have to drag my butt to the grocery store last evening since we had very little food in the house. Good news is that Miss B has offered to do the cooking if she has no homework or tests to study for. COOL!!! Last evening was a terrific fish dish, and I believe tonight will be pork chops in a marinade and then grilled. YUM!100_0863_tweaked I am hoping that tonight I can get back to doing some fun, creative things since I have a few things on my plate the need to be completed in the next few weeks. I also kept a travel journal while I was gone, so I want to finish adding a few decorative touches to that. It was great to have it with us on the trip, since it contained all the info on our trip from last year. We could remember where we ate and how we felt...all sorts of fun stuff.

New York...day 4...

101_0121 Our last day in Manhattan was on Saturday (1/6), and this was the day we planned to do everything that we still had not done. We took a cab from the hotel to the Empire State Building where I left Mr. Mark and Miss B to take a ride to the top. Been there, done that, and don't care for heights. (My heart raced in the last King Kong movie when they were at the top of the Empire State Building, and that was just a movie. I even told Mr. Mark he was not allowed to get a hotel that had more than 20 stories...ours had 21 and we were on floor 20...great). Sooooo...I walked a few blocks to the place I most wanted to visit during this whole trip...Tinsel Trading. I was SUPER EXCITED!!! Oh the thought of spending an hour or so looking at all the loveliness I imagined this store had to offer. I walked up, took a few photos and proceeded to enter. The door was locked. WHAT???? I looked at the hours..."open selected Saturdays"!!! WHAT???? My heart sank. How could this be that I came all the way here to have the store closed? I never even thought to check the hours because I knew in the past they had classes on Saturdays, so I figured they would be open. 101_0126

Just look at all that millinery goodness...so close, and yet so far...I tried calling Mr. Mark, but got his message. I figured he was not getting reception or had to turn off his phone. I was supposed to meet them there, so what should I do? Well, first I walked up to Lord and Taylor to check out the windows, since I was planning to do that anyway. Just beautiful (although they did not photograph well). Lots of movement with a Victorian motif. Each window represented different things about Christmas...The aroma of Christmas...The sights of Christmas...The sounds of Christmas...it was really beautiful. 101_0133

I wish this photo was nicer, but you can kinda get an idea. Once I was done there, I walked back down the block a few more times. Then, as if God had heard my disappointment, I looked and saw people coming out of a car with boxes, and they were going in. So, I asked if they were the owners and told them how I had come from Florida and was so disappointed that they were closed. Well, she told me that normally they are closed on Saturdays in the winter, but they would be opening in about 10 minutes. OH JOY OH JOY....Now, I just have to hope Mr. Mark and Miss B don't come lookin for me too soon while I am in the midst of this euphoria. 101_0124  I was the only shopper in the store for most of the time I was there. I had a lovely girl from Poland who helped me and we shared some nice conversations. Then, after about 20 minutes, the phone rang. So, I grabbed the things I had already selected and checked out, meeting the crew back at Lord and Taylor, where they were checking out the windows. 101_0122

Because of my very brief time in the store, I didn't take any photos. I wanted to make the most of my shoppin time, dontcha know! It was almost overwhelming...I could have used more time to just soak it in and really think about what I needed (and probably spent a heck of a lot more money). I did get a few things, such as some vintage tinsel (how appropriate), velvet leaves, and dresden wings. It was such a thrill to go, and I hope to get back again!!

101_0134 Our next stop was to Bon au Pain (I think that was the name) to get some food. The food was nice, but I think everyone else decided to eat there that day, because it was a bear to get a table for 3.

101_0136 Now that we were refreshed, we hopped another cab to...

101_0144 Little Italy to hit the Paul Frank store. One of Miss B's choices. It was a pretty small store, but she found a belt and a tank top to purchase. If we were smarter, we would have eaten in Little Italy. I can just imagine how good the food must be. Our cab driver dropped us a few blocks from the store (because I think he didn't know exactly where it was), so we walked along Mulberry Street, which was restaurant after restaurant on each side of the street. Each one having a "greeter" to try an lure you in. 101_0138

It was a fun place, and I hope we can get back there again to savor the ambiance and the food. After this, we hailed another cab and got a ride to FAO Schwartz, so we could walk over to Central Park for a carriage ride.

101_0158 This is something I have always wanted to do, and it was a really wonderful experience.

101_0161 Of course, our driver had to have a top hat, so I selected the first one I found. Turns out to be an excellent choice. Our driver was Sal, and his horse was Shaggy. He told us that this is a family business, and he used to do it back in high school. Then, when his father had a fall and could no longer do it, he and his brother now drive the carriages so his Dad can relax. Sal knew so many interesting facts about the park and surrounding buildings, that and the nice snuggly blanket made for a really great ride!

101_0193 We still had a little bit more time before we had to get back to the hotel for our ride to the airport, so we headed up 5th Ave to St. Patricks Cathedral.

101_0209 It has been such a long time since I was there, so I had forgotten how absolutely gorgeous this place is. The architecture and stained glass are just beautiful. I wish they still made churches like this, but I know it would cost a fortune.

101_0211 They actually use REAL candles. Unlike our church, which has electric lights.

101_0216 How can you not love this....

101_0219

And this....

101_0220

And this....

And here is where I totally finished filling up my 1 gig SD card on the camera. From here we walked to a few other stores, and then headed to the hotel to pick up our luggage and head to the airport. It was such a WONDERFUL time (except at JFK where they searched my carry on bag several times and had only 2 food choices for dinner with a long wait). I think Miss B really loved this get-away and will cherish the memories of a fun time with her family. I think it was also so great for her to see what a different life it is to live in the city.

I hope you enjoyed re-living my little vaca. I received a MOST LOVELY package yesterday with lots of goodies to spark my creativity (I will share photos once I get them loaded on the pc), and I have some birthdays just around the corner, which means I need to get makin cards. I do have some holiday decorations that must be put away this weekend, but I should squeeze some arty time in there too. Hope all is well with you and you are having a great week!!!!

New York...day 3...

101_0008 On day 3 (Friday 1/4) I had a wake-up call set for 6am, so that Miss B and I could go to the Today show. Well, at 6am, it was cold and I was tired, so I went back to sleep for a while. Once we got up, we headed out toward the subway, but decided to make a brief stop by the Today show to see what was going on. Since it was 9am, Matt and Meredith would be gone, but we decided to wait for Al Roker to come out and do the weather...

101_0010 Well, sure enough, in just a short time there he was...

101_0011 He came right over and started shaking hands with everyone. He was super friendly, and while he was doing the weather, we actually got on TV!!! Did ya see us??? Probably not, but it was cool anyway!!!

101_0016 From there, we headed down to the subway. I don't remember it being so hard!! Too many choices, and of course no one in the little info booth to answer any of our questions. We finally found that we could get a day pass for $7 each, so that is what we did. Then we had problems getting them to work. Finally, I got thru, Mark got thru, but Miss B did somethin and she could not get thru. Not good. Luckily, some nice lady came by and used her card to get her inside. Note to self...make sure one parent is on each side of the turnstiles.

101_0018 We took the subway down the the World Trade Center to look around and also visit a store called Century 21. While Miss B and I shopped (for Ugg-type boots to keep our feet warm), Mr. Mark did more looking around.

This is a photo of all the work that is going on in that area.
